Commence your Advanced Life Support Instructor journey at Port Macquarie Base Hospital and Calvary Adelaide Hospital in 2026

If you’re a healthcare professional ready to step into a teaching role and shape the next generation of Advanced Life Support practitioners, Resuscitation Australia’s Instructor Accreditation Program (IAP) has two upcoming course dates you won’t want to miss.

What Is the IAP?

Resuscitation Australia’s Instructor Accreditation Program (IAP) offers an innovative, up-to-date, instructor training experience. Become accredited to lead Advanced Life Support (ALS) courses by participating in an IAP that’s tailored exclusively for healthcare professionals; this comprehensive course equips you with the knowledge, skills, and accreditation needed to teach ALS1 and ALS2 courses, as developed by Resuscitation Australia via our network of Accredited Course Centres.

The IAP pathway combines immersive face-to-face training, mentorship from experienced Instructor Development Coaches, and continuous formative assessment.

Upcoming Dates

Port Macquarie, NSW on 14–15 August 2026

In partnership with the Mid North Coast Local Health District, the IAP will be hosted at Port Macquarie Base Hospital on Wrights Road. This is a fantastic opportunity for clinicians across regional NSW to access ALS instructor training close to home.

Adelaide, SA on 19–20 September 2026

In partnership with Calvary Health Care South Australia, the IAP will be held at Calvary Adelaide Hospital, 120 Angas Street. Healthcare professionals across South Australia are encouraged to take advantage of this rare metropolitan offering.

What to Expect

The two-day course runs from 8:00am to 4:00pm and is structured around progressive skill development. Day One covers learning theory, technology orientation (using the REALITi simulation system by iSimulate), skills teaching using Peyton’s Four-Stage Approach, and simulation scenario practice. Day Two builds on this foundation with further simulation scenarios, assessment practice, and dedicated time for reflection and moving forward as an Instructor Candidate ahead of your mandatory Instructor Candidate placements. Participants work in small groups of six, each with a dedicated learning space and assigned Instructor Development Coach. The approach emphasises coaching over didactic instruction.

Investment and Enrolment

The IAP is priced at $1,495 (incl. GST). To be eligible, candidates must hold a current ALS1 and/or ALS2 certification from either Resuscitation Australia or the Australian Resuscitation Council.

Places are strictly limited at both hospitals. Enrolments close 30 June and early registration is strongly encouraged. Enrol today.
