Becoming an accredited Resuscitation Australia (RA) Advanced Life Support (ALS) Instructor is an empowering step for healthcare professionals looking to enhance their teaching credentials and make a meaningful impact in lifesaving training. Whether you are an experienced ALS instructor or just starting on this journey, Resuscitation Australia offers two distinct pathways to help you achieve accreditation.
Pathway 1: Migration for Existing ALS Instructors
If you are already an ALS instructor, Resuscitation Australia provides a streamlined process to transition to teaching RA-accredited ALS courses. The RA Instructor Migration Session is a two hour online session specifically designed to:
– Provide guidance on RA’s teaching methodologies, assessment frameworks, and course requirements.
– Ensure existing ALS instructors are equipped with the tools and knowledge needed to deliver RA’s Advanced Life Support blended learning curriculum.
– Ensure a seamless transition so instructors can confidently deliver ALS1 and ALS2 courses developed by Resuscitation Australia.
The migration sessions are an excellent opportunity to connect with the Resuscitation Australia team through a virtual meeting and to expand your teaching offering while aligning with a recognised leader in resuscitation education.

Pathway 2: Instructor Accreditation Program (IAP) for New Instructors
For healthcare professionals new to ALS instruction, the RA Instructor Accreditation Program (IAP) offers a comprehensive pathway to gain the skills and qualifications required to teach RA’s ALS1 and ALS2 courses.
No formal nomination is required to enrol in the Instructor Accreditation Program. However, participants must hold a current Resuscitation Australia or Australian Resuscitation Council ALS2 certification. Prior experience in clinical education is highly regarded, and applicants should carefully consider their aptitude and emotional intelligence to effectively coach and support participants through their ALS training.
To become accredited, the Resuscitation Australia IAP requires the successful completion of an intensive two day face to face course, in addition to two successful Instructor Candidate placements on two RA ALS courses. Instructor candidates will receive:
– In-depth training in RA’s Advanced Life Support guidelines and instructional best practices.
– Hands-on experience with real-world scenarios to develop confidence and competence.
– A supportive learning environment tailored to help participants excel as ALS instructors.
The IAP equips you with the tools to deliver effective, engaging, and evidence-based training that meets the highest standards of resuscitation education.
