Participant Code of Conduct: Setting the Standard for Excellence in ALS Training

As part of our unwavering commitment to high-quality education and a psychologically safe learning environment, Resuscitation Australia (RA) has established a comprehensive Participant Code of Conduct for our Advanced Life Support (ALS) courses. This code aligns with ANZCOR Guideline 10.2 and actions under the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards to deliver consistency, inclusivity, and excellence in every participant’s learning experience.

Key Highlights of the Code:

Preparation and Participation

To maximise the benefits of RA’s blended learning approach, ALS course participants must:

  • Complete 100% of mandatory eLearning modules before attending their scheduled face-to-face training.
  • Provide proof of completion upon arrival at the training session.
  • Be punctual and attend the entire duration of the in-person course.

These requirements are designed to ensure participants arrive well-prepared, fostering effective engagement in the hands-on, team-based scenarios that are central to ALS training.

Inclusivity and Diversity

Australia is a culturally and linguistically diverse nation, enriched by the contributions of

people from many backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Peoples, who

are the traditional custodians of the land. RA values this diversity and is committed to

creating a training environment that respects and celebrates the diverse backgrounds of our participants. Our Code emphasises respect, non-discrimination, and culturally safe practices in the context of healthcare delivery. We strive to create a collaborative and supportive environment for all learners.

Psychological Safety

Creating a psychologically safe space is paramount. RA’s instructors are trained to foster respectful and inclusive interactions, ensuring participants feel valued and supported throughout their learning journey.

Feedback and Continuous Improvement

Participant feedback is invaluable in helping us refine our programs. Participants are encouraged to provide honest, constructive evaluations of their course experience, contributing to RA’s commitment to clinical governance and voluntary compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.

Compliance and Accountability

Non-compliance with pre-course requirements or behavioural standards may result in removal from the course. This accountability ensures fairness and consistency across all ALS programs.

Acknowledgment

By participating in RA’s ALS courses, attendees confirm their understanding of and agreement to this Code of Conduct. This mutual commitment enables us to deliver the highest standard of education and training.

The Participant Code of Conduct is a cornerstone of our mission to enhance healthcare through high-quality resuscitation training. By aligning with these expectations as a participant, you help us maintain the integrity of our programs and create a positive and enduring impact on patient outcomes.
