9 June 2024 marks World Accreditation Day (WAD), a global initiative established by IAF and ILAC to highlight the value of accreditation. This year’s theme, Accreditation: Empowering Tomorrow and Shaping the Future, examines the impact of accreditation as digitalisation and new technologies continue to change our world.

As Resuscitation Australia continues to innovate through the delivery of interactive, mixed-modality training and works to expand the availability of Advanced Life Support training in Australia and abroad, we rely more than ever on our Quality Assurance Framework and rigorous accreditation pathway.
Accreditation helps us to ensure that the Course Centres and Instructors whom we trust to facilitate and deliver our courses share our commitment to continuous improvement, critical evaluation and evidence-based improvements to the education and training we develop.
As stated by the International Accreditation Forum, “accreditation has been a key pillar of societal assurance for decades, and now underpins trust in almost every aspect of everyday life. Accredited conformity assessment can enable the development and adoption of new technologies, particularly in industries and supply chains where precision, safety and quality are critical.”
This holds true for healthcare also, where the development and delivery of accurate, evidence-based and clinically applicable training can equip health practitioners with the confidence and competence required to improve patient outcomes.
Resuscitation Australia also perceives the benefits of accreditation to exceed mere quality management and assurance metrics, to support cybersecurity and privacy, as well as enabling healthcare professionals and providers to make informed decisions about the investments they make in the areas of clinical education and instruction. We are pleased to support the IAF and ILAC’s efforts to highlight how accreditation is empowering and sharing the future by enabling organisations like Resuscitation Australia to confidently embrace new technologies and drive innovation.
